Spring is set to bloom in Philadelphia which means it’s almost time for one of the city’s most beloved festivals. The annual Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates Japanese arts and culture and the beauty of the Sakura—the flowering cherry tree with mesmerizing pink and white blooms. From March 27 – 28, 2026, Sakura Weekend will completely transform the Horticulture Center and Centennial Arboretum in West Fairmount Park into a vibrant, lively festival.
What is the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival? 🌸
The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival is an annual celebration of Japanese arts and culture with a focus on the beauty of the Sakura Cherry tree. Each year, various venues throughout the City of Philadelphia hosts themed events.
Indeed, the festival’s centerpiece is the Sakura Weekend, which brings together a plethora of family-friendly activities and activations to West Fairmount Park. Organized by the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP) with sponsorship from Subaru of America, Inc., this beloved festival brings a taste of Japan to Philly.
What to expect at this year’s festival? 🏯
This two-day festival includes a main stage, a smaller stage, the Shofuso House, and the entire Horticultural Garden center and grounds.
