As Philadelphia gears up to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, one of the city’s most treasured landmarks is inviting visitors to step directly into the past. Elfreth’s Alley, America’s oldest continuously inhabited residential street, will once again host its beloved Fete Day this summer.
Taking place Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the annual open-house fundraiser transforms the historic cobblestone block into a lively neighborhood celebration complete with home tours, live entertainment, historical reenacts, artisan vendors, and family-friendly activities.
Dating back to 1934, Fete Day Ofers a rare opportunity to walk through 18th- and 19th- century homes that have been continuously lived in for generations. While many historic sites preserve the past behind ropes and glass, Elfreth’s Alley remains a living neighborhood where residents still call these centuries-old homes home.

Fete Day brings Elfreth’s Alley’s living history to life
This year’s event carries even greater significance as the city and nation commemorates the Semiquincentennial— the 250th anniversary of American independence.
During Fete Day, visitors can experience how modern-day Philadelphians continue to preserve and adapt homes that predate the founding of the United States itself.
Guests can expect:
