It’s no secret- any true Philadelphian knows that cheesesteaks are in our DNA. The City of Brotherly Love is home to one of the most juiciest, cheesiest, and tastiest sandwich concoctions to ever exist. Just like “wit or witout“, either you get it or you don’t. Recently, House of Dragon Star, Fabien Frankel spent some time in Philadelphia and recalls how he became smitten with our city’s most popular delicacy.
Read on to see which spot in Philly he rates as having the best Philly cheesesteak.
House Of The Dragon Meets The Cheesesteak
“House of the Dragon” stars Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith and Fabien Frankel recently sat down with BuzzFeed for a comedic interview. During a segment of “The Puppy Interview“, members of the cast hilariously answer questions (or try to) while playing with puppies.
So, during the interview, the topic changes to food. Producers asked whether there was an American food cast mates have yet to try but want to. Fabien Frankel, who plays Ser Crestin Cole, takes the opportunity to gush over a food that he has not only tried, but loves.
Drumroll please….the cheesesteak.
“I’m living in Philadelphia at the minute and I’ve gotten to eat a lot of Philly cheesesteaks,” Frankel told BuzzFeed. “I got to have an Angelo’s Philly cheesesteak; that’s like the most famous cheesesteak in Philadelphia.”
Frankel recently spent time in Philly filming a new HBO series.
He continues, “Angelo’s is my favorite cheesesteak that I’ve had,” he professes, while adding, “I really don’t want to sin in Philadelphia.”
So Much More Than Just Cheese On Bread
Surprisingly, Frankel’s cast mates just can’t seem to understand his love of the cheesesteak.
“So, it’s a baguette,” Frankel starts off.
“Are you joking? Is that real?,” D’Arcy asks while a producer comes to Frankel’s aid
“It’s like a hoagie bread,” the producer corrects him
“What’s that? I thought we were talking about a steak,” D’Arcy says.
“It’s like a hot dog,” Cooke chides in.
“It’s like a bunch of meat and cheese in a sort-of baguette,” Frankel tries to explain.
“I’m so glad I asked, I thought it was a steak with some cheese on it,” D’Arcy replies, still somewhat mystified.
“I can’t picture what you’re describing,” they conclude.
