Philadelphia just got a little louder…and more orange. Wawa has teamed up with the National Hockey League and the Philadelphia Flyers’ iconic mascot Gritty to launch a limited-edition “Gritty Smoothie,” and it’s already turning heads across the region.
Available at more than 400 stores throughout Philadelphia and surrounding areas, the bright orange drink blends mango, pineapple, and tart cherry, then gets topped and with whipped cream and chocolate chips. It’s all served in a custom Gritty-themed cup, complete with signature googly-eyed chaos.
A playoff-inspired collab

The collaboration comes just as playoff energy builds across the city, with Wawa leaning fully into hometown pride and personality.
“This partnership was all about having fun, celebrating local pride and giving our customers something that feels uniquely Philadelphia,” said Doug Martin, Wawa chief marketing officer. “Gritty’s pitch to Wally couldn’t have come at a better time as Philadelphia cheers on its home team in postseason. You can feel the excitement everywhere in and around the city and we know Gritty’s smoothie is sure to be winning recipe among all fans!”

In true Gritty fashion, the Flyers mascot didn’t hold back when describing the creation.
“I’ve been a lil choosy on who I meet with during the playoffs, but when Wally the Wawa Goose calls, you answer,” said Gritty. “Like most Philadelphians, I’m rough around the edges, everyone knows it. But on the inside, I’m smooth (and doughy). What if there was a way to harness my smooth side and put it in a 24 oz cup? Impossible? Wrong. We did it. We made a smoothie.”
