Get ready, Philly-area snack lovers— one of the region’s most iconic rivalries is officially moving into our backyard! For the first time ever, Sheetz is opening a location in the Philadelphia area, and it’s doing so with a bold move: setting up shop directly across the street from a Wawa.
🥗 Sheetz is coming to Montgomery County

The new Sheetz is slated to open on February 12 in Royersford, located at 454 West Ridge Pike, placing it just steps away from an existing Wawa and instantly turning this stretch of Montgomery County into ground zero for convenience store debates.
For decades, Pennsylvanias have passionately argued over which chain reigns supreme: Wawa with its hoagies and cult following or Sheetz with its made-to-order menu and late-night appeal. Now, locals won’t have to drive far to compare the two head-to-head.
In a statement, Sheetz emphasized its commitment to the community as it expands closer to the Philadelphia region, noting its focus on quality, convenience, and service. Such values the brand says it has delivered across Pennsylvania for more than 70 years.
👀 Team Wawa or Team Sheetz

It’s no secret, Philly is a Wawa town. However, the farther you go outside of Philadelphia into Pennsylvania, and you’ll find the opposite—team Sheetz.
Interestingly, this high-profile face-off comes as new national rankings reveal the rivalry is closer than ever.
According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index’s 2025 convenience store report, neither Wawa nor Sheetz claimed the top spot. Instead, both chains tied for a second place with a score of 82, just behind Midwest favorite Kwik Trip, which topped the list with an 84.
So, while Philly locals may argue fiercely about hoagies versus MTO burritos, the data suggests the two brands are nearly neck and neck when it comes to customer satisfaction.
Beyond fueling debates (and cars), the new Royersford Sheetz is also bringing job opportunities to the area. The location is currently hiring store team members, making it a notable addition for both snack enthusiasts and job seekers alike.
Whether you’re Team Wawa, Team Sheetz, or just excited about more late-night food options, you’ll have more places to choose from.
Sheetz is set to celebrate its grand opening with prizes and giveaways February 12, 2026.
