Who is eligible to vote in PA?
In order to legally vote in elections in Pennsylvania, you must:
- Be a U.S. citizen;
- Be 18 years or older by Election Day;
- Be a Pennsylvania resident;
- Not be confined in a prison, jail, or other penal institution serving a sentence for conviction of a felony as of the date of the election and will not be released before the next election; and
- Not have been convicted of a violation of a provision of the Pennsylvania Election Code within the last four years.
Important to note, the last day to register to vote in PA was October, 21st, 2024. However, you can check whether or not you are registered to vote by clicking here. Lastly, you do not have to register to vote every year, one time is suffice.
When can I vote in Philly?
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. If you’re in line by 8 p.m., you’ll be allowed to vote even if you haven’t yet cast your ballot.
If you applied for a mail-in or absentee ballot, it must be received by your county election office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Remember to place your completed ballot in the secrecy envelope before placing it in the outer envelope and signing it.
Mail-in ballots can also be returned to designated drop-off locations throughout Philadelphia.
How do I find my polling place?
Your designated polling location is based on your residential address. You can find your polling place by visiting the Pennsylvania Department of State’s website here or the Philadelphia County Board of Elections website and entering your address. Additionally, ensure you double-check your polling site, as some locations may have changed.
What are the Election Day voter ID requirements?
If it’s your first time voting at a polling place, bring an accepted form of ID, which includes a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or student ID.
Returning voters generally do not need to show ID unless they are flagged by the system for verification.

- You have the right to request assistance if needed, such as from a family member or poll worker.
- You have the right to vote if you are in line by 8 p.m.
- You have the right to vote by affidavit if your name is not on the voter’s list
- You can vote without your ID (unless this is your first time)
