Calling all true crime enthusiasts. You’ve binged the documentaries, kept the podcast running on the commute and probably formed a theory or two about which detective got it right. But hearing a case described and walking through the evidence are very different things.
Mind of a Serial Killer: The Experience is coming to Philadelphia at 901 Market Street, and it trades the narrator’s voice for the case file itself. Opening dates are still under wraps, but the waitlist is already open, and signing up is how you secure early bird pricing plus 24-hour presale access before tickets go on general sale.
What is Mind of a Serial Killer: The Experience?
This immersive walkthrough experience explores the psychology of serial killers through the lens of the investigators who brought their cases to light. Across 20+ stops, visitors encounter 16 recreated crime scenes, real case materials, authentic artefacts and documentary footage covering 16+ serial killers.
There’s also a virtual reality investigation where you step into an investigator’s shoes, examining a simulated crime scene and piecing together forensic evidence.
Rather than glorifying offenders, the exhibition focuses on criminal behaviour, forensic science and the pursuit of justice, while keeping victims and affected communities in view.
Allow at least 90 minutes for the experience and, given its focus on disturbing real-life cases and themes of violence, it is intended for adult audiences. Cases and content vary by city, so Philadelphia’s lineup will be its own.

What the press has said
The exhibition has attracted attention for its considered approach to true crime, with critics highlighting its educational value and its decision to put victims and investigators ahead of the notoriety of perpetrators. Here’s what the press have had to say:
“Instead of turning serial killers into celebrities, Mind of a Serial Killer’s mission is to dissect the mindsets of what drives murder for a better global understanding, while creating a place to honor slain victims.” — amNewYork
“There is something striking – and deeply sobering – about being confronted with the reality of what was done to real people in these spaces up close.” — The New York Post
“As someone not attracted to true crime, I found this to be as interesting, informative, educational, and fascinating as it is disturbing.” — PIX11 News

So if you’ve ever finished a documentary wishing you could stand in front of the case board yourself, this is the closest Philadelphia gets. Join the waitlist now to lock in early bird pricing and a 24-hour head start on tickets, and check the website for updates as the opening gets closer.
