Philadelphia is bringing back one of its most popular spring traditions as Open Streets returns to Center City this Sunday. After drawing more than 170,000 visitors since its launch, the program it once again transforming West Walnut into a walkable, car-free destination for seven consecutive Sundays.
From April 5 through May 17, eight blocks will be closed to traffic, giving pedestrians space to stroll, shop, and enjoy the city in a whole new way. The route spans Walnut Street from Broad to 19th and 18th Street from Chestnut to Locust, with select cross streets remaining open.
Local businesses are stepping outside too, with expanded seating, special promotions, and in-store experiences. Restaurants along the route will serve food and drinks, creating a lively street scene all day long.

Opening day lands on Easter Sunday, and the lineup is packed with family-friendly activities and entertainment:
- 🫧 Bubble Magic: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- 🐇 Easter Bunny visits: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- 🐰 Bunny HOPscotch chalk art: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 🍫 Easter Treat Trail at select businesses 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 🎨 Easter crafts: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- 🎤 Live musicians: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- 🪺 Easter Egg Roll Race: 12:15 p.m.
- 🕺 BunnyHOP dancing with Rittenhop: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- 🔀 Double Dutch with Philly Girls Jump: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each Sunday, Open Streets offers a fresh way to experience the city. It’s also a great way to boost foot traffic for local businesses. With live entertainment, interactive activities, and plenty of space to roam, it is quickly becoming a staple of spring in Philadelphia.
