The Philadelphia people, with their unique slang and mannerisms, are just as special. About The Study
The list was curated by Best Cities, using a holistic approach that shows which factors really makes cities attractive as places to live, work and play.
Their goal is to provide residents, investors, and tourists with an objective ranking and not just one based off surveys.
Each year, the company analyzes more than 270 cities to determine the top 100. Firstly, the respective cities are at least home to one million people. Not only are data and qualitative evaluations used, but also recommendations by locals and visitors. With these result, three core factors are analyzed — ‘liveability’, ‘lovability’ and ‘prosperity’.
According to Time Out, liveability incorporates how walkable a place is, airport connectivity and the number of parks, among other factors. Lovability relates to culture — the number of nightlife and restaurant spots, as well as Google and Facebook check-ins. Prosperity includes analysis of the poverty rate, educational attainment and GDP per capita.
Bloomberg calls Best Cities “the most comprehensive city ranking on the planet.”
World’s Best Cities
“Given its deep roots in the creation of the Union almost 250 years ago, Philadelphia is a dense, cataloged embodiment of Americana, easily accessible and eagerly shared. Philly has always let its experiences do the talking, whether it’s walking through history along the cobblestones of Old City or breathing in the urban green of Fairmount Park.”
