🥨 Happy World Emoji Day, Philly!
It’s July 17th, aka World Emoji Day, the unofficial holiday for everyone who’s ever texted “on my way” with a 🚗 or added a 🤣 to lighten up a passive-aggressive work email. Emojis are part of how we communicate, and here in Philly it’s a part of our culture.
Glassdoor crunched the data and revealed which emojis are used most often by professionals in different cities. And when it comes to our city, let’s just say, it’s a Philly thing.
🦅 Philly’s top 3 emojis are a whole mood
Ready for the emoji version of a personality test? According to Glassdoor, these are the top 3 emojis used by Philadelphians in the workplace:
- 🦅 The Eagle
- We know, we know –Go Birds! Whether it’s football season or not, Philly reps the Eagles year-round. This emoji screams hometown pride and loyalty louder than the crowd at Linc.
- 🤮 The Face Vomit
- As Philly slang goes, “keep it a bean”- sometimes you just need to express pure disgust. From late SEPTA trains to unexpected PPA tickets, this emoji gets the job done when you’re just “over it” or unimpressed.
- 🙃 The Upside-Down Smiley
- It’s a blend of sarcasm and boredom, mid to chill energy, and a jawn you insert whenever someone in Philly is drawlin’ (For a philly slang refresher, click here)
In other words, based on our emoji use, Philadelphians are “prideful, bold and not afraid to show some snark.”
Philly keeps it real…even in emoji
Whether’s you’re a die-hard Birds fan, fluent in sarcasm, or just keeping your inbox spicy, World Emoji Day is a reminder that how we say things matter. And in this city? We’ll always say it with feeling..and the perfect emoji.
