The Wawa Welcome America festival and concert is a staple in Philadelphia filled with fireworks, music, and celebration. The headliners for this year’s concert has just been announced. Pop-princess Kesha leads the bill along with R&B superstar Ne-Yo.
Wawa Welcome America
With summertime fast-approaching, concerts and festivals are plentiful throughout the city. One such concert, the Wawa Welcome America celebration on July 4 is a highly-anticipated Philly tradition. Tuesday morning, Mayor Cherelle Parker announced the headliner’s for this year’s Wawa Welcome America concert will be superstars Kesha & Ne-Yo.
This concert will take place in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art immediately followed by a grand fireworks spectacle. Indeed, like years prior, the concert is free and open to the public.
Pop-superstar Kesha is best known for her 2010 break-out singles “TiK ToK” and “Your Love is My Drug”. In recent years, the singer was ensued in a legal battle against producer Dr Luke who she accused of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. The case was settled last year and the singer went on to release a new album titled “Gag Order”.
Additionally, in light of the recent allegations against Hip-Hop mogul Sean “Puffy” Combs, Kesha announced she will be removing a famous lyric from her song “Tik Tok” that mentions Diddy.
Next, R&B superstar Ne-Yo will also grace the stage. A talented songwriter and singer, Ne-Yo released his self-titled debut album in 2006 which produced the instant classic “So Sick”. He is also known for hits such as “Sexy Love”, “Miss Independent”, “Champagne Life” and more.
Additionally, the singer has gone on to release multiple albums including his most recent album in 2022 titled “Self-Explanatory”. Ne-Yo also recently wrapped up a tour which included a stop in Philly summer 2023. He even hosted a top-secret afterparty event at Frame Philly.

Undoubtedly, Wawa Welcome America brings together the city to enjoy vast entertainment and festivities. Since Jay Z’s “Made In America” festival has been canceled for a second year in a row, the WaWa Welcome America free concert is the largest musical event along Philly’s parkway.
