The holidays are here and that means there will be plenty of things to do in and around Philadelphia with bright lights, sounds, and crowds. While there’s no doubt the season is magical, for some groups the festivities can also be overwhelming. The Comcast Center Campus Philadelphia is putting inclusion and diversity on the forefront with its first-ever dedicated Sensory-Friendly Day.
🧩 Sensory-Friendly Day
Saturday November 11th, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Comcast Center Campus welcomes autistic and neurodivergent guests to experience its offerings at a time when campus population is reduced.
Indeed, sensory issues are commonplace in the community. Many autistic and neurodivergent individuals experience hypersensitivity to bright lights or certain light wavelengths (e.g., LED or fluorescent lights). While, others experience hyposensitivity, a constant need for movement or an attraction to bright lights, etc. Both can make holiday festivities overwhelming during this time of the year.
Comcast is setting the bar high in Philadelphia by putting inclusion and diversity at the forefront and deserves to be celebrated.
🧩 What To Expect
During the event, guests can enjoy The Universal Sphere™ sensory-friendly experience and a special preview of the sensory-friendly version of The Comcast Holiday Spectacular before the season begins!
The Universal Sphere™ is a free, cinematic experience that explores the power of ideas in a dome theater located in the Comcast Technology Center upper lobby. It is brought to you by the minds of Steven Spielberg, DreamWorks Animation, Universal Destinations & Experiences, and Comcast Labs.
The Comcast Holiday Spectacular has been a highly-anticipated Philadelphia holiday staple for 15 years. Guests will enjoy a 15-minute family-friendly show on The Comcast Experience video wall. This exciting show features classic holiday songs and performances by the Philadelphia Ballet.
New for 2023, a sensory-friendly version of The Comcast Holiday Spectacular will be offered daily.
Additionally, while on campus, guests can also learn about Comcast’s latest accessible technology and enjoy complimentary small bites provided by local Comcast RISE businesses.
Lastly, in partnership with Comcast Spectacor, a designated Sensory Zone will provide a space for individuals who would like to take a break from the day’s programming.
