All aboard!
Hold on to your Santa hats Philadelphians, the most wonderful time of the year is on its merry way to the city! And if you’re a lover of all things merry and bright we might have just found the activity for you: Getting whisked away to the North Pole on a magical train ride.
At New Hope Railroad they’ve reconditioned their beautiful, century-old trains to transport you away to the wonderful land of reindeer and Santa Claus just in time for the holiday season. Pretend you’re away in the North Pole while taking a round trip from around Bucks County on a stunning old train while enjoying some fresh cookies and hot cocoa for a totally cozy and wintery adventure.
Located just 30 minutes north of Philly, New Hope Railroad offers two wonderful Christmas-themed rides that are perfect for getting you into the holiday mood. Both their North Pole Express and Santa’s Steam Ride Train will take you on a cheerful round trip from New Hope to Lahaska, PA, on one of their beautifully-restored Diesel locomotives.
While onboard, you’ll be able to enjoy some totally awesome wintery views while munching on freshly made cookies and velvety hot chocolate to the sound of live music being played. The century-old cars are also decked out for the holiday to ensure maximum holiday cheer and merriness.
The young ones are also highly encouraged to send their Christmas letters via the train’s express mailbox, before getting to spend some time with Mr. and Mrs. Claus themselves!
The rides offer three kinds of seating including the First Class car where guests will be seated at a table in their own individual parlor style chair, the Coach Class car built between 1913 and 1935 with bench-style seats, or, if you feel like enjoying a private trip to the North, you can choose to rent the whole car for you, your family and your friends!
Once you arrive back to New Hope you can’t forget to check out their totally beautiful Freight House Gift Shop and our Christmas Gift Shop. Built in 1891, these Victorian-style buildings are now home to all the Christmas décor and vitage-inspired toys you could dream off! So if you’re missing presents for anyone on your list, make sure to pay the shops a visit before heading back home.
Of course, New Hope Railroad has new health measures in place to ensure the safety of all visitors and prevent the spread of coronavirus, including contactless check-ins and temperature checks and the obligatory use of face masks for everyone 2 or older among others.
In addition, no on-site ticket sales are available so you’ll have to book your spot on the train head of time online on their website or by phone.
