Do you love mushrooms? But like a lot? This mushroom festival is for you!
Kick off the fall season with its primary vegetable, the mushroom! Kennett Square is hosting its 36th annual Mushroom Festival this weekend from September 11th to 12th. Kennett Square is famous for its weekly farmers’ markets, its brewfests, and for its one-of-a-kind annual Mushroom Festival! With the festival’s slogan “rooted in the community”, people will be brought together for their mutual love for fun, food, and of course the delicious mushroom! This is also the occasion to celebrate Kennett Square’s booming industry and the community that has helped build it.
State Street will be lined with many tents to explore and activities to do. At the Mushroom Festival, you’ll learn all there is to know about mushrooms, from the different species, their nutrition values, their economic worth, and so much more! On Saturday, the mushroom festival is debuting at 8:45 a.m. with a memorial service in honor of 9/11’s 20th anniversary, then at 9 a.m., the gates to the festival will open. Live music and cookout contests will be taking place on the Community Stage all weekend at various times. Between sets, visit the Mushroom Growers’ Tent or the many vendors selling everything from Christmas ornaments, birdhouses, artisanal products, trinkets, and of course fresh farm veggies and fruits. At the mushroom farm discover how mushrooms are grown and harvested as well.
They even created an app, ‘Mushroom Festival’, for festival-goers. It offers an easy-to-use guide with all the information needed for the festival. From the schedule, the vendor list, parking, mushroom fun facts, and events, this app is a fundamental tool to guide you around this exciting festival. Admission to the festival is $5 per person. This is a unique and fun festival not to miss!
