Get ready Philly, a new steak jawn is in town! This Friday, Medium Rare will officially open its door in the Fishtown neighborhood, and they’re serving up cult-favorite steak frites and bottomless fries.
Medium Rare: the cult favorite from D.C. has arrived

Medium Rare, the Washington D.C.-born temple of Steak Frites, has officially opened its ninth –and most arguably exciting– location at 1540 Frankford Avenue in Fishtown.
This isn’t just another steakhouse, it’s a single-choice, prix fixe paradise that’s simple, elevated, and addictive.
Steak, fries, and secret sauce

Patrons can expect dinner that is simple yet unforgettable: award-winning Culotte Steak (or a grilled portobello mushroom for plant-based diners), cooked to order and drizzled with Medium Rare’s crave-worthy, top-secret sauce, plus fresh-cut fries, mixed greens salad, and rustic bread –all for just $32.95!
The best part? Seconds are complimentary which means you can indulge in even more steak and “bottomless” fries.
“You have to have the best of something, otherwise you’re off the radar,” says co-owner and Philly native Mark Bucher. “We knew we had to have a sauce with ‘come back’ quality—and we do. We go through insane lengths to keep it a secret.”
Don’t skip dessert (or brunch)

Moreover, for just $12 more, you can add indulgent desserts like chocolate or carrot layer cake, Key lime or apple pie, or a nostalgic hot fudge sundae.
Weekend brunch (served Saturday & Sunday, 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) is a $39.95 all-inclusive feast featuring unlimited cocktails, coffee, juice, and soda alongside entrees like:
- Steak & Eggs
- Steak Benedict
- The Ultimate American Breakfast Sandwich
- Grilled Portobello Mushroom with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce
- 24-Hour Soaked French Toast with Artisanal Sausage

Medium Rare: A French-tinged dining Experience
Aside from bottomless fries and secret sauce, expect playful, French-inspired touches.
Waiters write your order on paper-covered tables in crayon, cocktail napkins come with flirty French pick-up lines, and the bathroom doubles as mini language classrooms.
Indeed, it’s dining that’s delicious and fun!
Steak with a side of purpose

Lastly, beyond the food, Medium Rare is committed to giving back.
Bucher and partner Tom Gregg co-founded Feed the Fridge, a nonprofit that stocks community refrigerators with fresh meals daily, feeding 3,600 people a day in D.C. and Virginia –with plans to expand into Philly.
“In cities with NFL teams, there’s strong community support and media visibility,” says Bucher. “It’s the right formula for restaurants—and for impact.”
