Football season is getting a playful twist at Marsha’s South Street. Philly’s first women’s sports bar is gearing up to welcome Philadelphia Eagles fans for every regular-season game. Starting Sunday, September 13, the South Street bar will serve a special “For the Birds” menu alongside game day drinks and deals throughout the season.
The new lineup puts a bird-themed spin on classic game day favorites. Eagles fans another reason to make their way to South Street when the Birds take the field.
Marsha’s South Street brings the Birds to the menu
The “For the Birds’ menu features Bird Feed Chicken Skewers coated in sesame seeds, Turkey Tail Meatballs, and Angry Bird Sliders, all served atop a crispy fried onion “bird’s nest.”
For a game day staple, Nest Nachos offer fresh-fried corn tortilla chips topped withs seasoned ground turkey, cheese sauce, jalepeños, diced tomatoes, and sour cream.
“Philly is for the Birds,” said Marsha’s founder Chivonn Anderson. “This menu is our way of celebrating how important football is to the city, and creating a space for everyone to feel comfortable cheering on our team. As a lifelong Philadelphia, I know how important Sunday football is to this city, and I want to celebrate it here on South Street.”
A new home for Philly sports fans
Since opening, Marsha’s has established itself as Philadelphia’s first women’s sports bar. It’s a dedicated space for watching women’s sports while welcoming fans of local Philly teams. The venue is also centered around queer film and television, food, drinks, and community.
Named in honor of LGBTQ+ activist Marsha P. Johnson, the bar was founded by queer Philly native Chivonn Anderson. In fact, Anderson has a personal connection to South Street and its history. It’s a place where she found pockets of safety, identity, and expression.
Marsha’s will serve the “For the Birds” menu during every Philadelphia Eagles regular-season game through the end of football season. GO BIRDS!
