A Revolutionary War fort is getting a futuristic makeover this September. Making Time ♾️, Philadelphia’s independent electronic and experimental music festival, returns to historic Fort Mifflin from September 18-20 for three days of music, immersive visuals, and its signature philosophy of peace, love, unity, respect and transcendence, known as PLURT.
What is Making Time ♾️ festival?
Curated by Philadelphia Dj and promoter Dave P., Making Time ♾️, also known as Making Time Forever, is built around an independent, DIY approach to festival culture. Instead of corporate sponsorships, the weekend centers on music, community, and creating immersive experiences inside one of Philadelphia’s most unusual historic settings.
More than 120 electronic, experimental, and live acts will perform throughout the weekend. Additionally, Klip Collective will bring futuristic visual installations and projection mapping to the fort.
Who’s playing at the festival?
The lineup stretches across electronic music, avant-garde sounds, and live performances. Friday kicks things off with Marcel Dettmann, John Talbot, Los Thuthanaka, Dopplereffekt, Aurora Halal B2B Verraco, Sextile, CCL, Dj Python B2B Qoso, JASSS, and more.
Saturday brings festival headliners Bicep, Kim Gordon, Avalon Emerson, They Are Gutting a Body of Water, Sandwell District, Optimo (Espacio), Batu, Carla dal Forno, and You Su B2B Moopie.
Sunday closes out the weekend with Theo Parrish, Daphni, Skee Mask, Octo Octa B2B Eris Drew, Tiga, Jeff Parker & Mary Lattimore, Daniel Avery, Erol Alkan, Avalon Emerson & The Charm, and plenty more.
Fort Mifflin offers a historic festival backdrop
Indeed, part of the appeal is the setting. Fort Mifflin is an 18th-century Revolutionary War fort located on a mud island along the Delaware River. It sits right beside Philadelphia International Airport.
During the festival, its historic brick buildings and military structures become the backdrop for a weekend of electronic music and visual art. Imagine open grounds and planes flying overhead as the music plays below.
How much are Making Time ∞ tickets?
Three-day general admission passes are $295 plus a $30 processing fee. Single-day passes vary in price ranging from $125 -$160, depending upon the day.
Important to note, there is no camping at Fort Mifflin and no parking directly at the fort. Instead, festival goers can use the dedicated Making Time ♾️ shuttle from La Chinesca at 1036 Spring Garden St. to Fort Mifflin throughout the weekend. Round-trip weekend passes are available from 485 or single-day passes for $35.
According to organizers, the shuttle ride is just as much a part of the festival experience as the concert. Lastly, all attendees must be 21 years and older old to attend.
This weekend don’t miss your chance to transcend with nature, community and music. Making Time ♾️ runs September 18-20 at Fort Mifflin. An official afterparty is scheduled for Sunday night at Warehouse on Watts.
