If there were ever a place to prove Philly does cheesesteaks best, it just might be the airport. On March 24, Philadelphia International Airport turned an ordinary travel day into a record-breaking spectacle, officially earning a Guinness World Records title for the world’s longest line of cheesesteaks.
World’s longest line of cheesesteaks

Stretching across the concourse between Terminals B and C, the jaw-dropping display featured 1,291 cheesesteaks -a savory snack of sandwiches that ran longer than three football fields. The numbers behind the feat are just as impressive: 990 pounds of shaved ribeye, 225 pounds of cheese sauce, and more than 1,200 rolls came together to create the ultimate Philly flex.
This was about more than just breaking records. It was about celebrating on elf the city’s most incise foods in the place that serves cheesesteaks under one roof than anywhere else in Philadelphia.
More importantly, it showcased the power of togetherness. Mel Hannah, Vice President and General Manager of MarketPlace PHL, highlighted:
More than 100 team members from more than a dozen different restaurant operators, with multiple food suppliers, along with staff from the Department of Aviation and MarketPlace PHL, all worked collectively to make culinary history today. That’s how Philadelphia gets it done … together.
Dozens of partners, including local staples like Amoroso’s Bakery Company, Cooper Sharp, and Philly’s Best Steak Company, helped bring the vision to life, with support from Chickie’s & Pete’s and beverage partner Pepsi.
What happened to all the cheesesteaks?

Once the record was officially confirmed by adjudicator Michael Empric, the cheesesteaks didn’t go to waste—passengers and staff got to dig in, turning history into lunch.
A massive year for Philly
The event kicks off what’s shaping up to be a massive year for Philly, with major events like the FIFA World Cup 26 and the PGA Championship heading to the city, alongside celebrations for America’s 250th birthday.
And if you’re flying PHL this week, you’re still in luck! Cheesesteak week runs through March 27, with special menu items and deals across the airport.
