It’s no secret- Philadelphians love to travel. As much as we love our city, exploring other cities always makes for adventure. Imagine if you were able to visit cities along the east coast such as Washington, D.C. and Toronto is less than hour? Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, one person doesn’t think so. Apparently, there’s a proposal for a fantasy floating train, the maglev, that would cut travel between major east coast cities by more than half.
What Is A Fantasy Floating Train?
The fantasy floating Maglev is a proposed train project that uses magnetic levitation to suspend trains above a railway. Currently, Maglev trains exist in Korea, China and Japan. Additionally, there is a legitimate proposal for a Northeast Maglev that would speed up travel in the U.S.
And now, the fantasy floating maglev train could speed up travel event more.
What Is The Proposed Route Of The Maglev?
Submitted by Adam Susaneck, The proposal, it would connect cites from Philadelphia to Montreal and those along, as Susaneck dubbed it, the “Greater Northeast Corridor” in record speed.
Proposed routes would include:
- Philadelphia to D.C.: 21 minutes
- Philly to Boston: 51 minutes
- Philly to NYC: 18 minutes
- Philly to Detroit: 93 minutes
- Philly to Toronto: 127 minutes
- Philly to Montreal: 107 minutes
Will the Greater Northeast Corridor ever be constructed?
Although the proposal is quite detailed and attractive. it is not very likely that it would ever be constructed. But here’s to dreaming!
