Love hurts, well not in the case of the Philadelphia Eagles. The birds have won their second Super Bowl title, defeating The Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. The city of Philadelphia is gearing up to host a massive victory parade. Rumor has it, it coincides with the ultimate day of love. Here’s what we know so far.
Eagles parade: What we know
Fly Eagles Fly! The energy in Philadelphia has been nothing short of astonishing as fans watch their beloved birds clinch the division and then, win the Super Bowl. Super Bowl LIX saw the Eagles in a rematch against the Chiefs, with the birds coming out victorious. It is the second Lombardi Trophy for the team, after winning a ring in 2018.
Indeed, Philadelphia fans are known for their unwavering loyalty and passion for their sports team. So, it’s no secret city officials are gearing up to host a spectacular victory parade.
Although the City of Philadelphia has yet to release the official details, the Philadelphia Eagles have alluded to a parade to take place on Valentine’s Day.
The team’s official X account, sent out this tweet shortly after the birds dominating victory:
“Thought it was time to bring this one out again. See ya Friday.”
A reason to celebrate
Undoubtedly, Philadelphia has many reasons to celebrate but nothing unites the city more than a Super Bowl win & parade.
During the last parade in 2018, after the Eagles beat the Patriots, the parade kicked off near the Lincoln Financial Field at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue. From there, the parade headed north toward the Art Museum, where Jason Kelce gave his famous speech.
Important to note, the school district of Philadelphia did close schools the day of the last parade, so stay tuned.
