A rare cinematic experience is coming to the Philadelphia area this December, and it’s one most audiences won’t have access to. One of the most anticipated releases of the year, Dune: Part Three, is getting a limited 70mm IMAX rollout this December, and Philly is officially part of it.
The experience is headed to Regal King of Prussia IMAX —only 19 theaters worldwide were selected for this format. Philly joins other major cities like Los Angeles, Toronto, and London.
Directed by Denis Villeneuve and led by Timothée Chalamet, the next chapter in the saga arrives December 18. Exclusive 70mm IMAX screenings will run from December 17 through December 20. Each theater is opening just one showing per night at 7 p.m., making this an especially limited run for something this in demand.
These screenings are easily one of the most immersive ways to experience Villeneuve’s striking visuals. The 70mm IMAX format brings a level of clarity and scale that standard screenings simply can’t match. Audiences will be pulled deeper into the sweeping deserts and intensity of Arrakis from the very first scene.

However, as expected, the rush for tickets was immediate . Showtimes disappeared almost as soon as they were released, with many fans scrambling to secure a seat. While the initial wave sold out quickly, there’s still hope. Fans can sign up for the ticket alerts through IMAX to be notified if additional showtimes are added. Luckily, this strongly hints that more screenings could be on the way.
For those who were able to grab tickets early, the experience comes with an extra bonus. Select purchases will include a collectible film strip keepsake. For longtime fans of the franchise, that’s quite a memorable token.
Inspired by Dune Messiah, this next installment continues Paul Atreides’ story as he faces the weight of power, prophecy, and growing political tension. Returning cast members include Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Javier Bardem, and Rebecca Ferguson, adding even more depth to an already expansive world.
