Center City District Sips has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic again.
Looks like Center City District Sips won’t be making a comeback this year either. The Wednesday Happy Hour promotion, which usually starts in June and covers over 1oo bars and restaurants, has had to be canceled again due to Philadelphia’s coronavirus restrictions on public dining.
According to district officials who spoke with the Philadelphia Inquirer, organizers chose to cancel the popular Happy Hour events due to the “continuing uncertainty” about when Philadelphia restaurants and bars will be allowed to be open again for indoor dining. The city’s current health and safety guidelines capping the number of people who can gather in public spaces was also cited as a major factor for the cancelation of Center City District Sips.
While Philadelphia’s annual Happy Hour tradition will be sorely missed again this year, the CCD is continuing to support local bars and restaurants of which you can find more about on their list here. Plus, there’s still plenty going on for Happy Hour around the Greater Philly area with plenty of bars and restaurants to explore including Bok Bar in South Philly which recently reopened for the season and is back stronger than ever with countless of events, workshops and pop-ups to try!
