Philadelphia’s beloved 48 Record Bar is taking its signature listening-room experience outdoors for a one-night-only event at one of the city’s most historic locations.
On Friday, Aug. 7, the intimate Old City cocktail bar and vinyl listening room will team up with the Elfreth’s Alley Museum for a free First Friday Garden Party. The museum’s hidden backyard will be transformed into an evening filled with craft cocktails and crate digging.
Located on Elfreth’s Alley—America’s oldest continuously inhabited residential street—the event offers visitors a chance to experience one of Philadelphia’s most unique outdoor settings while enjoying the sounds and atmosphere that have made 48 Record Bar a local favorite.
What to expect at the 48 Record Bar Garden Party 💿
Admission is free, and guest can enjoy an evening of music and drinks in the museum’s tucked-away garden.

Important to note, while admission is free, cocktails and/or vinyl purchases are pay-as-you-go. Guests can expect a magical evening centered around music and conversation.
“Even before we had a venue, 48 existed as a pop-up,” says 48 Record Bar Creative Director Joey Sweeney, “so it’s very much in our DNA to bring music, cocktails and camaraderie to spaces where they might not otherwise be. But to get to do it in this very out-of-the-way beautiful, historic garden, with some of our very favorite neighbors here in Old City — well, that’s just magic.”
