The 2026 Grammy Awards unfolded with plenty of memorable performances, well-deserved wins, and viral moments (Luther Vandross, anyone). Philadelphia had plenty to celebrate at the Grammys this year, with three local standouts bringing home trophies on music’s biggest night. Jazz bassist Christian McBride, producer Will Yip, and, songwriter Andre Harris all scored wins, putting Philly firmly in the spotlight.
Philly artists take home Grammys gold

Christian McBride, a CAPA graduate and longtime jazz heavyweight, won Best Jazz Performance for “Windows (Live)” alongside Chick Corea and Brian Blade. He also earned Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album for Without Further Ado, Vol. 1 with the Christian McBride Big Band. McBride was nominated for a third award but narrowly missed another win.
South Philly producer, Will Yip, a Central High alum, was credited for his work on Turnstile’s 2025 album Never Enough, which won Best Rock Album, along with Best Metal Performance for “Birds.”
Meanwhile, songwriter Andre Harris earned a Grammy for Best R&B Song thanks to his work on Kehlani’s “Folded,” marking his first win since his last nominations in 2005.

A big night, even without wins
Bucks County native, Sabrina Carpenter, was nominated for six Grammys in total but ultimately walked away with none. However her performance capped a strong showing for Philly-connected artist with the rendition of her hit song “Manchild.” Other nominees included the Sun Ra Arkestra, the Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Yannich Nézet-Séguin, John Legend, an Upper Darby saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins.
Indeed, it was a big night for Philly, even without wins. The message was clear: win or lose, Philly’s sound continues to resonate at the Grammys.
