One of the most desirable neighborhoods in Philly is excited to welcome yet another new café sure to add it’s own unique charm to the bustling neighborhood. Parsian-inspired coffee shop, The Ground, is set to open in Rittenhouse Square Monday Apil 22nd, 2024.
Rittenhouse Square Welcomes The Ground
There’s a new café in town that features premium roast coffee and the ever-popular bubble tea. In fact, it’s the second of two booming locations. Opening Monday April 22nd, 2024, The Ground is a Parisian-inspired, plant-filled coffee shop. It’s sure to add its own unique spice to the already beloved square.
The Ground was founded by long-time friends and new business partners Michelle Miller and Molly Kiriacoulacos .
“We are thrilled to bring The Ground to Rittenhouse Square,” said Miller in an official press release. “Five years ago I opened and built DAPR Grooming Parlour right across the street with my husband. I love this neighborhood and this block. It represents the true hustle and bustle of Center City – and has an amazing electric energy. We feel our little concept can bring not only a lot of happiness to residents and visitors, but it can bring a nice balance to the area. We are honored to have the opportunity to create a space that is cozy and warm – and will offer joy that only hundreds of living plants can bring.”

We’ve been looking to expand to a second location for a while and it’s a dream come true to find a space that feels like it suits our vibe so perfectly. I can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new faces to our little jungle oasis on the square.”
What To Expect
Specifically, all beans are roasted locally for The Ground, including their all new House roast “The Botanist”. The Botanist is a signature coffee that celebrates the harmony of nature and nurture. This blend is perfect for those who appreciate the delicate balance of robust flavors and subtle botanical notes.
Next, for the bubble tea. Firstly, patrons will be able to dive into the rich essence of freshly brewed Earl Grey tea, meticulously crafted to capture the delicate balance of bergamot and black tea leaves. Undoubtedly, each bubble bursts with a symphony of aromatic notes, inviting you to savor the classic elegance of this beloved blend.
Then, transport yourself to the bustling streets of Thailand with their super traditional Thai tea. This expertly prepared blend is sure to evoke the essence of Thai culture and heritage. Indeed every sip is a celebration of bold flavors and time-honored recipes passed down through generations.
Lastly, embark on a taste adventure with their ceremonial grade Matcha bubble tea. This satisfying blend was sourced from coveted farms nestled in the heart of Japan.
“We will also be mixing in some of our favorite and unique specials, like our Dr. Diaz, a Dulce de Leche bubble tea made with fresh cinnamon and whole milk, or the Kimberly which is a Korean yogurt inspired base flavor (think pink berry) with a strawberry preserve. Such an incredible array of interesting takes unique to our little shop,” said Miller.
The bubble tea menu features more than two dozen offerings of signature favorites and rotating seasonal selections.
The Ground officially opens Monday April 22nd, 2024.
