Philly is officially in the thick of its first significant snowstorm in years, and as conditions continue to intensify, SEPTA has announced service suspension and changes across the region to keep riders and employees safe.
🚨 SEPTA service suspension starting at 2 p.m.
SEPTA has confirmed that all bus and Regional Rail service will be suspended starting at 2 p.m. Sunday due to deteriorating weather conditions across the city and the surrounding suburbs. According to the agency, service will remain paused through the end of the service day and will not resume until it is safe to do so.
In a statement, SEPTA shared that operations will restart once conditions improve enough to ensure safe travel for both customers and employees.
🚍 What’s still running (for now)
While much of the system is winding down, a few services are continuing with adjustments
-
🛑 Metro Route G1 will be suspended at 2 p.m.
-
❄️ T1 service is currently suspended
-
⏳ Remaining T lines are operating on reduced service
-
🚊 Metro routes L, B, D, and M will continue to run
These routes are often prioritized during severe winter weather due to their infrastructure and ability to operate more reliably in snow.
❄️ What riders should do next after service suspension
If you must head out today or commute Monday morning, it’s important to:
- allow extra travel time
- check for real-time alerts before leaving
- be flexible as conditions continue to evolve
Important to note, since Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., the entire City of Philadelphia is under a snow emergency where it is strongly advised not to drive unless absolutely necessary.
For the latest, most accurate service information, riders are encouraged to visit SEPTA.org or check the SEPTA app.
As Philly navigates this heavy snowfall, staying informed and prepared (not panicked!) is key.
