It’s finally here! The annual Roots Picnic in Philadelphia is a celebrated event that fuses together culture and music. The Roots Picnic will take place June 1 & 2 at the Mann Center of Performing Arts in Fairmount Part.
The 2024 Roots Picnic Lineup
Hip-Hop icon and rapper, Lil’ Wayne is this year’s headliner. His highly-anticipated set will serve as a tribute to the music of his hometown, New Orleans. Wayne’s performance will also feature PJ Morton and Trombone Shorty.
Next, it’s only befitting to have Philly-native and singer, Jill Scott to also co-headline the show. Besides ‘Jilly from Philly’, festival-goers can expect to see performances from artists such as André 3000, Babyface, Sexyy Red, and more.
Also on the roster this year: Nas, Victoria Monét, Gunna, Wallo & Gillie, Black Thought, Method Man, and Redman, Tyla, Smino, Adam Blackstone featuring Fantasia & Muni Long, Cam’ron, Wale, Robert Glasper featuring Yebba, and more.
A Philly Staple
Indeed, since its inception in 2008, the festival brings a Philly vibe unmatched by other big-named festivals and concerts.
It just feels different because it is different.
“There’s no egos, everybody really just comes to have a good time, that’s what’s perfect about the Roots Picnic,” producer/engineer and Philadelphia Chapter board member Dilemma told the Grammy’s.
“You get exposed to new music, new artists and you come to be entertained.”

Here are a few reminders for the event:
- Bags must be 12″x6″x12″ or smaller. For the safety of our patrons, all bags are subject to search. Backpacks are not allowed. Patrons who arrive with a bag other than what is permitted may purchase a clear plastic tote for $10 at the gates.
- lawn chairs are not permitted on the lawn, however small blankets are
- you must be age 21 and over with proper ID to consume alcohol
- No photography of performances is permitted
