One of Old City’s long-shuttered bank buildings is about to begin an entirely new life—one that has nothing to do with deposits, withdrawals, or quiet marble lobbies. Instead, this historic space will become the home of Ministry of Awe, a massive interactive art universe opening on March, 14, 2026.
Spearheaded by world-renowned pubic artist Meg Saligman, Ministry of Awe (MoA) is the work of more than 100 artists, builders, designers, and imaginative collaborators. Together, they’ve transformed the once-abandoned structure into a six-story, fully immersive, sensory-driven world timed perfectly with Philadelphia’s 2026 semiquincentennial celebration.
What exactly is the Ministry of Awe?

MoA describes itself as a mysterious entity devoted to protecting and celebrating humanity. Such. vibe pulses through every inch of the building. Visitors will enter a historic bank, but the experience quickly unravels into surreal installations, secret corridors, interactive sculptures, and unexpected performance art.
Roaming characters conduct “business” across a sprawling labyrinth, towering visual pieces shift with light and movement, and soundscapes echo through the floors, creating a living artwork that feels both whimsical and emotionally stirring.
Meg Saligman, project visionary and Ministrix of Awe said:
“MoA is opening in Philadelphia because in this city, art isn’t just decoration—it’s declaration. Our exquisite creation is not just a place, but a collective spark, a shared breath, and a reminder of what it feels like to be truly moved, made possible in part by a brilliant and adventurous community of contributing artists. In a world where humans are more connected to screens and machines than to each other, we’re daring people to join us and to feel something new.”
