From historic sites to vibrant street festival, the city and its surrounding communities are packed with ways to hone the day Black American in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free – two and half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
Whether you’re here for the history, the music, the food, or all three, here’s where you can tap into the spirit of Juneteenth across Philly and beyond all weekend long:
1. Juneteenth Parade & Festival
Philly’s biggest Juneteenth celebration kicks off with a massive parade through West Farimount Park, then moves to Malcolm X Park for a day-long festival featuring 250+ vendors, live music, art, and family fun. For more information, visit here.

2. A Celebration of Freedom at The Penn Museum
The Penn Museum’s Juneteenth festival offers free admission, live music, dance, drumming, and interactive workshops. Shop local Black-owned vendors, enjoy storytelling, and grab bites from food trucks or the café’s Juneteenth menu.

3. 3rd Annual Wine & Arts Festival
Celebrate Black culture at the free Juneteenth Wine & Arts Festival at Cherry Street Pier, featuring wine tasting, live music, local art, and craft vendors. All ages welcome; wine tastings are 21+ with separate tickets.

4. Juneteenth Jubilee at Bartram Garden’s
This rain or shine event is perfect way to get outdoors and celebrate. Enjoy vendors, lawn games, live performances, storytelling, and all-day activations in one of Philadelphia’s most attractive botanical gardens. For more information, visit here.

5. JAWNTEENTH: A Juneteenth and Pride celebration
