Philly is gearing up for spring festival season. Grammy-award winning rapper and mogul JAŸ-Z is officially set to headline Roots Picnic 2026. He will be joining The Roots for a historic performance May 30.
This year marks a major evolution for the annual festival, which is relocating to a brand-new setting at Belmont Plateau. Known for its sweeping skyline views, the move to this iconic location signals a bold new chapter for the Roots Picnic.
JAŸ-Z will headline the Roots Picnic 2026 🎶

JAŸ-Z’s appearance is significant, as it will be his first live performance in nearly a year. Moreover, it’s his first full set with The Roots in over a decade. The moment also coincides with the 30th anniversary of his groundbreaking debut album, Reasonable Doubt, adding even more weight to an already monumental night (for JAŸ-Z fans).
Festival organizers are calling the pairing a dream realized.
“Moving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JAŸ-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us,” said Shawn Gee, manager of The Roots and president of Live Nation Urban.
“After meeting with Mayor Cherelle Parker and hearing her vision for Philadelphia 250, she truly inspired us to dream even bigger.”
JAŸ-Z was last seen on stage in June 2025. The rapper made a surprise appearance with Beyoncé during the final international stop of her Cowboy Carter tour in Paris. Fan was in for a treat when he performed hits like “Crazy in Love” and “N—s in Paris.”
Presale ticket are available now, with general on-sale beginning March 18 at 10 a.m. ET.
More lineup announcements are expected soon.
