The cherished Fourth of July firework show at Benjamin Franklin Parkway is back! At 9:45 p.m. on July 4th, 15 minutes of fireworks will light up the sky!
This year, as the pandemic is coming to an end and life is starting to get back to normal, Philadelphians’ favorite firework show is coming to town! Wawa Welcome America, hosted 16 days of patriotic festivities to celebrate America’s rich history that kicked off with the commemoration of Juneteenth and ends July 4th with the firework show. One of those festivities being a Philly museum open for free admissions each of the 16 days. The festivities come to an end with the spectacular firework display at the iconic Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The firework show will be displayed over the Philadelphia Museum of Arts and people will be able to gather on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the 15 minutes firework show. Starting at 8 p.m. people will be able to start settling in on the Parkway.
Mayor Jim Kenney commented on the Fourth of July festivities saying “this year’s festival may not look the way it has in previous years, but nothing can diminish the energy, excitement, and electricity that can be felt in every neighborhood and community as we come together to give our city something to really celebrate.”
Since more than half of Philly residence have at least their first vaccine, health restrictions will be reduced and many accommodations will be put into place. Mask-wearing will not be enforced during festivities, but it is recommended that unvaccinated people and children wear a face covering when interacting with people outside their bubble.
Finally, an official fireworks soundtrack will air on The Breeze 106.1 FM and the firework show will be broadcasted live on NBC10 and TeleXitos.
