Philadelphia’s Circus Campus and its century-old church will soon echo with gasps, laughter, and the eerie thrill of horror classics reimagined. For one weekend only, the Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (PSCA) presents Haunted Circus Weekend: Scary Movie Edition—a fright-filled experience that brings Halloween’s most iconic films to life through daring circus performance.
“Theatricality and storytelling have always been at the core of what we do,” says Kitsie O’ Neill, Executive Director of PSCA. “This year, we’re giving into one of our favorite Halloween traditions -scary movies- and reimagining them through circus.”
The event will feature two separate shows: one for all-ages as well as one for adults-only.
“Our Family Show gives a playful nod to classics like It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Hocus Pocus,” O’Neill explained, “while the Adult Show pulls inspiration from cult favorites like Psycho, Black Swan, The Shining, and more. There are even a few surprise twists in store. It’s a high-flying thrill ride through horror cinema – circus-style!”

Next, when night falls, the tone shifts. The Adult Haunted Circuit (18+) takes center stage with sultry, spine-tingling performances inspired by cult horror hits like Psycho, The Shining, and Carrie.
Faculty and professional artists combine acrobatics, burlesque, and fire arts for an unforgettable fright fest.
“It’s part horror who, part burlesque, part tribute,” O’ Neill adds.
“And yes—there will be blood. Stage blood, at least.”
