Philly’s about to get loud in the best way possible. On Saturday, August 2, Evil Genius Beer Company is throwing an all-day, all-ages rock fest right under the El in Fishtown and it’s completely free to attend! The brewery is teaming up with School of Rock to host a Battle of the Bands Block Party, where six student bands from across the region will take the stage between 12PM and 6PM on the 1700 block of N. Front Street.
You can expect more than just guitars and drum solos. This epic street takeover will feature local vendors selling everything from vintage vinyl and comics to fashion and Philly-inspired art.
Evil Genius will be pouring their fan-favorite beers- including the cheeky classic Stacy’s Mom– with proceeds supporting School of Rock Philadelphia’s music programs. There’s a even a donation tent if you’re feeling extra generous.
School of Rock show by day, and emo revival by night
When the battle ends, the amps don’t go silent.
Stick around as School Of Rock’s OG Philly students take it inside the taproom to open for Tell All Your Friends, a high-energy-five-piece alt-rock band from South Jersey.
Specifically from 8PM to 11PM, they’ll be belting out emo and pop-punk throwbacks from the golden age of teen angst.
Think Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and a few wild-card covers tossed in like Queen and Kelly Clarkson.
It’s going to be totally fun and yes, it’s still totally free to attend.
“Our mission has always been about building community through great beer and unforgettable experiences,” said Evil Genius co-founder Trevor Hayward. “This event checks every box—music, local talent, supporting youth education, and having a blast in the heart of Fishtown.”
