Just 30 minutes from Center City, Andalusia Historic House, Gardens, & Arboretum is reopening for the 2026 season —and the garden upgrades alone are worth the drive.
The historic riverside estate officially opens to the public on March 30, 2026, with a special member preview on March 28.
What’s new at Andalusia’s Gardens in 2026? 🌹

The award-winning grounds are debuting dramatic new additions:
- 🌹 Six 12-foot-tall rose pillars
- 🌿 Ornamental topiaries in the Walled Garden
- 🌸 Continued design work from renowned English garden designer Arabella Lennox-Boyd
The roses will begin climbing the pillars this season, meaning visitors can return year after year to see them flourish.
What exhibitions is Andalusia debuting for 2026?

In honor of America’s 250th anniversary, two new exhibitions will open inside the Historic House:
Revolutionary Family: The Biddles & American Independence
On view from March 30 through November 13 inside the Historic House, this exhibition explores the Biddle family’s role in the Revolutionary War, featuring original objects, manuscripts, and stories of their service in the Continental Navy and early governing bodies.
The exhibit also shines light on the women of the family, revealing how their quiet influence and loyalty helped shape this pivotal moment in American history.

Radical Americana at Andalusia
Presented in partnership with The Clay Studio, Radical Americana brings a contemporary twist to Andalusia’s historic setting.
Artist Sophie Glenn created a striking steel chair inspired by the estate’s Greek Revival architecture.
If you look closely, you’ll spot something very Philly. The piece includes playful references to the Philadelphia Eagles and even nods to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, blending local pride with historic design in a way that feels both clever and unexpected.
Meanwhile, artist Jody Graff transforms pressed leaves collected from the grounds into oversized outdoor quilts displayed throughout the gardens. The works highlight her creative process while celebrating nature, craft, and Philadelphia’s cultural identity.
