Escape your mundane routine in the city with a day trip along the Northeast corridor. Just in time for Spring, Amtrak has increased service routes to meet the growing demand of travel. Now is the perfect time to visit a major city for a day of adventure and discovery.
Amtrak Travel Routes Increased
It’s no secret- more people are traveling! Specifically, the number of people traveling by train has increased prompting Amtrak to keep up with the growing demand. As a result, the company has just announced increased service routes along the east coast.
The additional travel options, will include weekday roundtrips and two weekend roundtrips. Specifically for our area, travelers can expect a new weekday morning departure from William H. Gray III 30th Street Station (PHL) in Philadelphia to NYP. There is also now one new weekend trip between PHL and Boston South Station (BOS).
“More people are taking the train than ever before and we’re proud to offer our customers additional travel options when they ride with us on the Northeast Regional,” said Amtrak Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Eliot Hamlisch in an official press release.
“The Northeast Regional gets you where you want to go comfortably, conveniently and sustainably as you breeze past traffic on I-95 for a more enjoyable travel experience.”
The Way Of The Future
Indeed, the increased schedules will contribute to Amtrak’s overall goal of doubling annual ridership to 66 million by 2040. Additionally, the Northeast Regional is the sustainable option. Not only does it offer relaxing and affordable downtown-to-downtown service, it also produces 83% less emissions than driving and up to 73% less than flying.
If you’re looking to upgrade your experience, Amtrak offers enhanced travel in Business Class. Travelers can expect extra legroom, a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage, and assigned seats for a more seamless boarding experience.
Additionally, Business class customers receive a 25% bonus on Amtrak Guest Rewards points.
