Philadelphia’s signature waterfront winter destination is back. The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) has announced that Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest will open on Friday, November 27, 2026 — less than 100 days from today — transforming the Delaware River Waterfront into an outdoor ice skating and holiday gathering destination through Sunday, February 28, 2027.
Opening Weekend and Tree Lighting
Opening Weekend runs November 27–29, culminating in the Holiday Tree Lighting powered by PECO on Sunday, November 29 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will officially light Winterfest’s towering holiday tree along the waterfront. Entertainment lineups and special guests are set to be announced this fall.

Forkin, President and CEO of DRWC. “From welcoming the season’s first skaters to gathering around firepits and cozy cabins, there’s an energy on the Waterfront that signals the holidays are here.”
What’s at Winterfest
Located at 101 S. Columbus Boulevard, Winterfest centers on an NHL-sized outdoor ice rink with views of the Delaware River and Ben Franklin Bridge. Admission to the grounds is free; ice skating costs $5, with skate rental available for $12. Returning attractions include outdoor firepits, private warming cabins, the Rinkside Lounge, and The Lodge at Winterfest. A Ferris wheel and indoor arcade return in December. Independence Blue Cross members receive free skate admission for themselves and up to three guests with a valid IBX member ID. Military personnel and first responders also receive free skate admission for themselves and up to three guests with valid ID when purchasing in person.
Key Dates for the Season
Beyond Opening Weekend, Winterfest has confirmed New Year’s Eve fireworks on December 31 over the Delaware River, and the return of the Fire & Ice Valentine’s Day Party on February 13, 2027. Holiday hours run December 19, 2026 through January 2, 2027, with the venue open daily from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., except Christmas Eve (closes 8:30 p.m.) and Christmas Day (1–8:30 p.m.).
